For the second year running members of the University of Melbourne community are invited to support diversity and inclusiveness in Australian society, by joining the annual Pride march, to be held as part of Midsumma festivities on 29 January 2017.

Pride is for everyone –  those who identify as LGBTQI, their families, friends and allies, and organisers are hoping to double the numbers of people marching behind the UoM banner this year, to show the world our collective pride.

The University’s theme for this year’s march is ‘We are family’ – so invite your kids, siblings, parents, uncles aunties, cousins, friends and pets to join in and show support for an inclusive, welcoming society.

To launch our support campaign for Pride 2017 the Raymond Priestley Building will be “rainbowed” from 7 September to 2 October.

Two students from the VCA School of Art will be designing and painting a rainbow mural under the supervision of Darren Munce (Technical Coordinator) Painting Technology.

By coloring the precinct, we’ll show our LGBTQI community that our university is welcoming, diverse and inclusive, and is for everyone to enjoy.

Register your interest to joint the march here.

Check out the design and student profiles at this site as well.

Staff, Students, Alumni, Family, Friends, Allies and the community are welcome to march with the UoM.
