Congratulations to Commerce graduate Dylan Alcott who won tennis gold last month at the Rio Paralympics in Men’s Quad singles and Men’s Quad doubles (with partner Heath Davidson).

Already a medalist through his membership in the triumphant men’s wheelchair basketball team, which took gold at the 2008 Paralympics and silver in 2012, he returned to his first love in tennis at this year’s event, after having won the 2015 US Open and both 2015 and 2016 Australian Opens.

“Dylan is an amazing athlete, and a real inspiration to everyone with a passion for sport,” says Sport Development Manager at Melbourne University Sport Rod Warnecke. “He’s just a natural champion.”

Mr Warnecke congratulated all University of Melbourne student, alumni and sports club athletes who competed in Rio, saying it took rare talent, passion, determination and lots of hard work for anyone to get to that level in sport.
