This year’s University of Melbourne Awards have been announced, with bronze plaques installed along Professors Walk on the Parkville campus to recognise awardees.

The awards acknowledge staff who have made an outstanding and enduring contribution to the University and its scholarly community.

This year’s twelve recipients include Australia’s first Indigenous Paralympian Uncle Kevin Coombs (1941–), Victoria’s first Commissioner of Equal Opportunity and first female Chancellor of the University Fay Marles (1926–), and renowned anthropologist, zoologist, collector and advocate for Aboriginal people’s rights and culture Donald Thomson (1901–1970).
