New staff join Uni through Indigenous Australian Employment Development Program

November 16 / 188

The University has welcomed seven new recruits into the workforce through its Indigenous Australian Employment Development Program (IAEDP).

The Indigenous Australian Employment Development Program (IAEDP) was first piloted in 2013 and since then has achieved successful results with many staff professionally developing and transitioning into ongoing roles after their successful completion under the IAEDP contract period.

“The program is the only one of its kind in the higher education sector,” says IAEDP coordinator Dan Little. “The program is now operating in its fourth year and continues to yield positive results for all recruits from current and previous cohorts.”

Murrup Barak would like to thank all departments and faculties hosting recruits this year: University Services, VCA & MCM, Architecture Building and Planning, Melbourne Graduate School of Education and the Faculty of Science.

From 2017 to 2019, the IAEDP will bring in 10 new staff each year which is a significant achievement by the University and a positive response to the employment demands of the Indigenous Australian Community today.
