Our favourite farmers and food treats are back on campus next week

UMSU’s Summerfesters will have packed up their giant water slide and student BBQs just in time for the return of the University of Melbourne Farmers Market next week. It’s back for 2017 on Union Court next Wednesday 8 March. The market goes from 10.30am-2.30pm with lots of lunchtime traffic and fare.

This year the market is hoping to improve even further on its sustainability endeavours, so please remember to bring along your own shopping bags and reusable cups, and ensure recyclables make it to the right bin.

New for 2017 is a fortnightly rotation of two veggie producers. Sugarloaf Produce will have seasonal fruit and vegetables for sale every second week, as well as an option for staff and students to pre-order a $20 box for collection on market day.

The Farmers Market is a great way for staff, students and local residents to join the local food movement and support Victorian farmers and boutique producers.

Come along to enjoy the vibe and grab a bite to eat and take home some fresh delights direct from the grower to you. 

Stalls vary seasonally but may include: honey, free range pork, berries, herbs and vegetables, new season apples, Milawa cheese, artisan bread, 5 & Dime bagels, free-range egges, pickles and chutneys. Snack on authentic Mexican food, old–fashioned pies, fresh juice, coffee and chai, felafel pitas, teriyaki chicken, baked potatoes, indulgent cheese toasties, potato rosti, and other delicious treats! 

Wednesday during semester 10.30am – 2.30pm
