Melbourne in the Media – May

In May, the University received 6,968 mentions in the media, including 2,654 traditional (print, radio, television) mentions and 4,314 digital mentions.

Traditional media mentions were 18 per cent higher than in May 2010, and 6 per cent higher than in April 2011. 

The University received 135 international media mentions across 10 countries in May, with 36 mentions in UK and 24 in New Zealand.

Print mentions were up nearly 50 per cent from May 2010, and circulation increased by 46 per cent. 

Expert commentary accounted for 37 per cent of the mentions.

There were 147 negative media mentions.

Of the Faculties and Graduate Schools, MDHS received the highest number of digital mentions (1,139), followed by Business and Economics (776) and Arts (390).

MDHS also received the highest number of traditional media mentions (874 mentions) of any faculty or graduate school in May, followed by MGSE (227) and Arts (224).
