Daisy the doggie blood donor

This is Daisy, one of the team of regular dogs who help out their fellow canines by donating precious blood to emergency patients presenting at U-Vet Animal Hospital, the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences hospital in Werribee.

Each one of Daisy's donations has helped three dogs in emergency situations.

The canine blood bank is now recruiting for new donors.  Do you have a four legged friend who could help out?

Your dog is eligible to become a donor if:

* He or she is 25kg or over

* Fully vaccinated

* Aged between 1 and 7 years

* Has not previously received a blood transfusion

* Has a known health and travel history

* And has a reasonably calm temperament.
