Melbourne researchers awarded $42.8 million in ARC Research grants

More than $42.8 million in research funding will flow to University researchers after their successful performance in 2011 Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage and Discovery Grants, announced last week by the ARC and Minister for Innovation Senator Kim Carr.

University wins International Education Association of Australia award

The University has received an International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) award for the way in which it implemented the Diagnostic English Language Assessment (DELA) test for international students.

University to host world-first IBM research facility

The University will be home to the world’s first IBM Research and Development Centre.

The lab – which will engage with researchers from the University, CSIRO, National ICT Australia (NICTA) and Australian business - will begin operating during the first quarter of 2011.  IBM expects to employ about 150 people, including 38 PhD students, within five years.
