Experience a wider Open Day in 2017

August 17 / 196

August is one of the busiest months in the University’s calendar, with students and academics settling into second semester learning and teaching, and plans for Open Day turning into reality.

This year’s Open Day theme is ‘A Wider Open Day’, and we’ll be presenting all the benefits that a Melbourne education offers through its distinctive Melbourne Model. Now in its 10th year, the Melbourne Model has well and truly proven itself as a great way for students to explore a wide range of academic interests and career pathways, without the pressure to commit to a vocational track straight out of school.

The Model balances depth of enquiry into a student’s core undergraduate program, balanced with a wider approach to learning about the world, and the powerful outcomes that can be achieved when seemingly unrelated ideas collide. It also puts students on an equal footing with their peers, particularly in North America and Europe, and facilitates increased mobility for things like study abroad and exchange, or international intensives.

If you have young people in your social or family networks who are starting to think about ‘life after school’, or even considering entering university at a more mature age, open days are an invaluable opportunity to explore educational options as well as take in the atmosphere that each different campus offers.

Open Day at the University of Melbourne is always a fascinating showcase, alive with colour and activity, music, exhibitions, lectures and places to chill out and mull things over.

Visit the Open Day website to create your own bespoke itinerary for the day.

Sunday 20 August, 10am-4pm, Parkville & Southbank campuses.
