This year’s Open Day was a resounding success, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the organising team, professional and academic staff, and students.

Thousands attended the Parkville and Southbank campuses, which featured 560 separate events organised by 500 dedicated staff and students who volunteered their time.

Social media also reflected the day’s success with the hashtag

#uomopenday the number one trending topic on Twitter in Melbourne and number five in Australia.

Visitors could select from 430 information sessions, as well as a host of fun opportunities such as the Ideas Collide photo booth and confessing their ambitions on video:

Information stands across campus were also busy, dispensing 22,000 information packs, 36,000 programs and 25,000 maps.

In his email to staff, Vice-Chancellor Glyn Davis, expressed a special word of thanks to grounds staff and the organising team, headed by Phillipa Ross.

“Once again we were very fortunate to see such an extraordinary effort from staff, volunteers and students.

“Open Day is a huge production, and was a great success again this year.”
